Robert VanNatta of Walnut Creek has had a watermedia painting selected for the 40th annual Juried Ohio Watercolor Society Exhibition, Watercolor Ohio 2017, at the Columbus Museum of Art, 480 E. Broad St., Columbus.

The exhibition will open on June 30 and run through Sept. 10. An opening reception by the Ohio Watercolor Society will be Aug. 12 at 1 p.m.

Sponsored by the Ohio Watercolor Society, a nonprofit fine arts organization, this highly competitive juried show annually attracts entries from the entire state and areas along its boundaries. Chosen for the exhibition were 77 paintings from the 265 entries submitted by 165 artists. A nationally recognized juror from outside Ohio judges the show. This year's juror of selection and awards is Mary Whyte of Charleston, S.C.

An exhibition of 40 works, including all of the award winners, will tour Ohio following the conclusion of the full exhibit at the art museum. More than 350 artists are signature or associate members of the Ohio Watercolor Society, which was established in 1978 to further the stature of aqueous painting as a major art medium and to assist in the education of Ohio artists and the general public.
