Home Builders Association has dinner event

The Home Builders Association of Wayne and Holmes Counties held its inaugural dinner at The Pine's Restaurant, Thursday, Jan. 19.

Merle Stutzman of Weaver Custom Homes was voted Builder of the Year for 2016. Scott Morgan of Wayne Savings Community Bank was voted Associate of the Year. These two awards are voted on by the entire membership.

Steve Nolletti of Capstone Custom Homes was voted Chairman of the Year, this award is voted on by the Board of Directors.

The Presidential Honor Award went to Steve Gill of Lowes for his dedication to the Association. This award is decided by the 2016 President Merle Stutzman.

Installed as 2017 officers were Steve Nolletti, president; Wayne Yoder, vice president; and Scott Morgan, secretary/treasurer. Trustees for 2017 are Linda Amos, Michael Downs, Les Miller, Scott Morgan, Alan Ratliff, Jeff Smith, Dave Suttle and Marlin Yoder.

Shreve veterinarian attends conference

Dr. Laurence Smith, Shreve veterinarian, has returned from the North American Veterinary Conference in Orlando, Fla. The meeting was held at the world renowned Orange County Convention Center.

There were 17,000 veterinarians from around the world attending and 400 exhibits on display. Dr. Smith had lectures pertaining to his practice and picked up new ideas on surgery and medicines to be used.

Bank service center marks 1,000th hour open

The First-Knox National Bank Customer Service Center celebrated its 1,000th hour open since launching its 24/7 operating schedule at the beginning of this year. Around 11 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, the bank had been open for service via phone, email and live web chat service for 1,000 hours.

According to First-Knox National Bank's president, Vickie Sant, the 24/7 center is the next step in fulfilling the bank's commitment to help people manager their money with confidence and ease in today's era of busyness and multi-tasking.
