The Ohio Holstein Association officers, executive committee, and board of directors met December 6, 2016 at the office in Wooster to review the 2016 activities and make plans for 2017. The meeting was called to order by President Randall Kiko. The minutes of the last meeting were presented, the treasurer's report given, regular business was conducted and various reports given. The next meeting is scheduled for March 11, 2017 following the annual meeting.
The National Holstein Convention is scheduled to be hosted by the Ohio Holstein Association in June 2021. Committees have been formed and possible locations for the numerous activities involved in the convention are being looked at. A Finance Committee is being formed consisting of Ohio members and industry people, as a large amount of money is needed to finance a National Convention. Jackie Bickel has resigned her position as Ohio Holstein News Editor. The position is currently being advertised and resumes must be sent to the Ohio Holstein Association by January 15, 2017. The Ohio Holstein Convention and Annual Meeting will be hosted by the District 7 Holstein Club and held March 10-11, 2017 at Wooster, Ohio. Final activities and details are currently being planned. The business meeting, election of officers and presentation of awards will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017. Plans are being made for the Ohio Holstein Convention Sale. The membership drive is currently underway. If you have not renewed your membership to the Ohio Holstein Association please send it as soon as possible. Membership entitles you to receive the Ohio Holstein News and to participate in reduced rates for registrations and other advantages. New members are always welcome! The Juniors Members are making plans for the 2017 National Holstein Convention, which will be held in Bellevue, Washington. The cost for junior members to attend will be high due to travel, hotels and activities. Junior members are currently selling raffle tickets on various prizes to raise money for the trip. Prizes include a grooming chute, clippers and a $500 voucher to be used by the winner to purchase an animal in the Ohio Spring Sale or the Buckeye Classic Sale.
