Fiber Arts Guild
When Fiber Arts Guild of Wayne and Holmes Counties met Feb. 6 at Local Roots in Wooster, several upcoming fiber festivals and shows were discussed. A bus tour to the Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair at Ashville, N.C. in October is being arranged. The Fiber Guild is again taking part in The College of Wooster's De-Stress Day. Knitting needles will be provided to students electing to combat stress with yarn. A charity project to provide Knitted Knockers to women in the community is being piloted. Members are investigating a couple of local organizations to partner with. Approved yarns were provided to knitters and crocheters willing to begin making Knockers.
There will be a Knit-a-Long, in which several people knit the same item and each imparts their own style and color sense along the way. A few members displayed their finished LionBerry Shawls and discussed various issues and changes each knitter made to the pattern. The Knit-a-Long continues through April, and many shawls are yet to be completed.
Sit-and-Knits will be held Feb. 18 at Templeton's Coffeehouse and on March 4 at Local Roots Market, knitting from 10 a.m.-noon. The public is invited to take any current project and join in.
The next meeting will be March 6 at 7 p.m. at Local Roots Market.
