MILLERSBURG -- Rebecca McCurdy, volunteer coordinator for LifeCare Hospice (formerly Hospice of Holmes County) states, "We are greatly in need of individuals from throughout Holmes County who are interested in supporting patients and families facing terminal illness." Because of this special need, LifeCare is offering an Introduction to Hospice Volunteering at 6:30 p.m. June 5, in the LifeCare Hospice office, 1633 S. Washington St., Millersburg. Participants will be given an in-depth look at hospice and hospice volunteering.

The focus of the full hospice training class is on equipping people to help terminally ill persons live their lives to the fullest for as long as possible. Hospice volunteers can help family caregivers by giving them a break or assistance with the tasks that help keep a household running smoothly during the crisis of terminal illness. Volunteers also may enhance the quality of life of hospice patients with companionship, music, the company of certified therapy animals or spiritual support. It can be an opportunity for married couples who might like to volunteer together. Anyone interested is encouraged to call McCurdy at 330-674-8448 or 800-884-6547.
