Holmes County waited more than a day for its first baby of the new year.
The county's official New Year's baby was welcomed into the world not on New Year's Day, but more than 31 hours into 2013.
"Our first baby was born (Wednesday), a little boy named Jacob," said communications coordinator at Pomerene Hospital, Connie Weaver on Thursday. "Jacob was actually due Jan. 6, but they did a Cesarian section yesterday."
Born to Holmes County residents Leon and Sarah A. Yoder of Fredericksburg -- members of the area's Amish community -- a son, Jacob Yoder, arrived at Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg on Wednesday at 7:25 a.m.
The area's New Year's baby weighed in at 7 pounds, 15 ounces and measured 21 inches long.
The family of Pomerene Hospital's New Year's Baby 2013 received a variety of baby items from the hospital and other area businesses to mark the occasion.
The hospital had no babies born Tuesday.
For the new year, Kellyn was listed as the hot baby name for a girl at Pomerene Hospital, while Brant, Haden and Lynn are popular boy names, according to the Pomerene website.
