Veteran office taking help applications

The Holmes County Veterans Service Center will accept applications for assistance for January through Jan. 25 at noon.

The Veterans Service Commission board meeting will be Jan. 28 at 6:30 p.m. Office hours are Monday, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; and Tuesday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. For more information, call the Holmes County Veterans Service Center at 330-674-4806.

Pottery Day benefits Every Woman's House

Kids' Pottery Day will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, from 9 a.m.-noon at West Holmes Middle School. Proceeds will go to Every Woman's House of Wayne and Holmes Counties. The cost is $10 per piece of pottery made. Pottery will be fired and delivered to the students' schools or a convenient pick-up site.

The event is led by Amy Rohr, West Holmes Middle School art teacher, and sponsored by Heartland Title Co. and Holmes County Title Co. For more information, call Eleanor Runyan at 330-231-1165.

Holmes Christian Women to meet; RSVP by Feb. 1

The Homes County Christian Women's Club will begin its 37th year with the Tuesday, Feb. 5 meeting, at Der Dutchman in Walnut Creek from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The program will feature Sandy Smith, "Joy in the Midst of Struggles." Her program will include scripture, hymns and original poems of inspiration. Collections are being accumulated for the Lifting Hearts Bereavement Group of Pomerene Hospital.

Haystack breakfast planned for Feb. 2

Walnut Creek Elementary School on Olde Pump Street will offer a haystack breakfast on Feb. 2 from 8-11 a.m.

Come support the school and plans for repairing the basketball court, as well as educational programs sponsored by the Parent's Advisory Committee. Carry-out will be available and donations accepted. There will drawings for gift baskets.

Spaghetti dinner is Feb. 2

A spaghetti dinner will be served Saturday, Feb. 2, from 4-7 p.m. at First United Church of Christ, 526 W. Main St., Sugarcreek. Cost is by donation and the meal is sponsored by the Garaway Lions and Lioness Club.

Street vacation hearing scheduled

A public hearing will be held Monday, Feb. 25 at 6:55 p.m. by Millersburg Village Council to hear any comments on a proposed street vacation of an undeveloped 40-foot section between the Flickinger and Myers properties on Critchfield Street. The meeting will be at the Village Office, 6 N. Washington St., Millersburg. Written comments will be received at the Village Office until 3 p.m. on Feb. 22.

Ohio Bluebird Society to meet Feb. 23

Ohio Bluebird Society will hold its annual Educational Conference on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Arden Shisler Center for Education & Economic Development, 1680 Madison Ave., Wooster.

The day begins at 8 a.m. with registration and refreshments.

This is a free educational event provided by The Ohio Bluebird Society for those who pre-register.
