Blood drive is today
Wilmot Fire & Rescue will be teaming up with the Aultman Blood Center on Friday, Feb. 8 from 2-6 p.m. inside the Wilmot Fire Hall. Volunteer firefighters and EMTs will be serving a light meal to all who stop in to donate blood. Enter to win two tickets to the department's monthly all-you-can-eat ham dinners. The Wilmot Fire Department is at 204 Mill St., 1 block from the intersection of U.S. Routes 62 and 250.

Blood drive set for today
The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive today (Thursday, Feb. 7) from 1-7 p.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 379 Crawford St., Millersburg, in the fellowship hall.
Veterans office taking help applications
Holmes County Veterans Service Center is accepting applications for assistance for February through Friday, Feb. 22 at noon. The board meeting will be held Monday, Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m. Office hours are Monday, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; and Tuesday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The office will be closed Tuesday, Feb. 19, Presidents Day. Senior citizens invited to lasagna meal
Senior Citizens of the Nashville community are invited to a free lasagna meal on Saturday, Feb. 9, at noon in the Fellowship Hall of the Nashville Church of Christ, just east of Nashville Elementary.
This "Winter Luncheon" is a chance to chat with neighbors and friends. Be certain to invite others. The theme will be snowmen and birds. Door prizes will be given.
The menu will include choice of chicken, vegetable, or regular lasagna, tossed salad and/or applesauce, Italian bread, dessert and beverage.
Entertainment will be by Jeremiah Stivers, musician and humorist. Stivers grew up in Holmes County and left for a while, not planning to return. "God had different plans for me," he revealed. In 2012, Stivers returned to Holmes County and is the Associate Minister at Ripley Church of Christ. Stivers' family includes his wife, Ariel and son, Liam.
Some parking is available on the lower level by the Fellowship Hall.w

Holmes County Humane Society activities planned
The Holmes County Humane Society will be at Tractor Supply Co. in Wooster from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9 and at Petco in Wooster for Adoption Weekend Friday and Saturday, Feb. 9-10. It will also be taking part in Girls' Night out in Millersburg on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Kaufman Realtyw where a drawing will be held for a gift basket. The next regular meeting will be Thursday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Life Center (former Grocery Bag) in Millersburg. New and prospective members are welcome. Holmes Lincoln dinner is Monday
The Holmes County Republican Party will hold its annual Lincoln Day Dinner on Monday, Feb. 11 at the Carlisle Village Inn in Walnut Creek. The reception will be 6 p.m. and the dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. The speaker will be Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted.
His duties include supervision of the state's elections system. Also attending will be newly-appointed Ohio Supreme Court Justice Judith French.
Tickets are $20 each. Tickets may be paid at the door, or a check may be sent to the Holmes County Republican Party, P.O. Box 471, Millersburg 44654.
The Lincoln Day Dinner is an annual event to serve as the annual meeting for the county party, to generate enthusiasm for candidates and to honor the life and memory of Abraham Lincoln, the first Republican to be elected president.
Holmes Liberty Coalition to meet
The Holmes County Liberty Coalition will meet Thursday, Feb. 14, at the Millersburg Comfort Inn. The program will be "Agenda 21 -- How Will It Affect You"? The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
Fish fry is Feb. 16
American Legion Post 494, of Sugarcreek, will hold a public family fish fry on Saturday, Feb. 16. The all-you-can-eat fish fry runs from 4-7 p.m. or until the food is gone. Everyone is welcome and the Post Home is located on North Broadway Street in Sugarcreek.
Clinic to hold 'Girl Talk' event
The Cleveland Clinic Wooster will hold Girl Talk on Feb. 21 at the Wooster Inn, 801 E. Wayne Ave., Wooster. Registration, health screenings and vendor visits will be from 5-6 p.m. and the dinner and open panel discussion will begin at 6 p.m. The cost is $20 and includes the meal. Reservations are required. Street vacation hearing scheduled
A public hearing will be held Monday, Feb. 25 at 6:55 p.m. by Millersburg Village Council to hear any comments on a proposed street vacation of an undeveloped 40-foot section between the Flickinger and Myers properties on Critchfield Street. The meeting will be at the Village Office, 6 N. Washington St., Millersburg. Written comments will be received at the Village Office until 3 p.m. on Feb. 22.
Breakfast at Wise to benefit schools
A whole hog sausage and haystack benefit breakfast with basket raffle will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, 6-11 a.m., at Wise Middle School. The school is located at the corner of state Route 557 and County Road 120. Proceeds benefit the students of Charm, Flat Ridge and Wise schools. Donations will be accepted at the door.
Ohio Bluebird Society to meet Feb. 23
Ohio Bluebird Society will hold its annual Educational Conference on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Arden Shisler Center for Education & Economic Development, 1680 Madison Ave., Wooster.
The day begins at 8 a.m. with registration and refreshments.
