Father to address daughter's journey after crash

Published:

A program, presented by the father of a girl who was injured in a car crash in 2011, will be presented March 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nashville United Methodist Church.

Bill Nelson will talk about the last 14 months during which his daughter, Mary, underwent numerous surgeries, presenting daily struggles for her and her family.

Mary Nelson was in a car with three friends on the Blue Ridge Parkway in November 2011. They were taking pictures of the night sky when the driver over-corrected and the car careened down an embankment, flipped and hit a tree. It took an hour to get Mary Nelson out of the car and to the hospital, where the prognosis was not good. She wasn't expected to survive the first 24 hours.

A free-will offering will be taken to be used in Mary Nelson's treatment. Donations can be given at any PNC Bank in care of the Mary Nelson Fund.
