Chestnut Ridge eighth-graders LeAnne Barkman (left) and Brenda Troyer placed first and second, respectively, in the school's annual spelling bee. The bee went 15 rounds, with 32 students participating. The championship word was "stimulus." Both Barkman and Troyer have competed in past bees and always have finished near the top.
