Barn fire contained in Prairie Township

Firefighters from across Holmes County responded Saturday evening, March 18, to a fire at a barn at 8000 County Road 189 in Prairie Township. They arrived to find the structure fully engulfed, but were able to quickly contain it and prevent it from spreading to a nearby home. Among the first responders were Prairie Township Fire Chief Reuben Miller and Holmes County Sheriff's Deputy Josh Summers, who also is a member of the Prairie Township Fire Volunteer Department. According to the Holmes County Auditor's website, the property is owned by Reuben D. and Sarah H. Miller.
