MOUNT EATON -- A Mount Eaton bank alarm was triggered early May 1, but law enforcement is unsure of any connection to four bank robberies across the region.
Wayne County Sheriff's Capt. Doug Hunter said that just after midnight, the Farmers National Bank branch located on East Main Street had an attempted entry.
Sheriff's deputies responded to the bank to check on the alarm, but Hunter said everything seemed to be secured.
Deputies did locate what appeared to be pry marks on one of the doors. Hunter said there was no real damage and entry was not gained, and no one was located in the area.
Following this incident, banks in Loudonville, Wooster and Millersburg have also been robbed; a Mansfield bank was robbed April 26.
Hunter cautioned against any similarities though, as the suspect at Mount Eaton bank covered his face. In the other cases, the suspect's face was not covered.
The case remains under investigation and is now with Mount Eaton Police.
