MILLERSBURG -- A former Lakeville woman recently denied a criminal accusation she took and failed to return a vehicle that did not belong to her.

Jennifer M. Conrad-Bass, 46, of 36 Front St., Burbank, pleaded not guilty to grand theft of a motorized vehicle and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. If convicted, she faces up to 18 months in prison for the theft offense.

The Holmes County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation on March 16 after a caller reported his girlfriend, who he allowed to use his 2006 Hummer H3, failed to return the vehicle at the agreed upon time, said Chief Deputy Richard Haun.

Questioned about the accusation, Conrad-Bass argued the details of the arrangement, according to Haun, who said that as of April 23 the vehicle had yet to be returned and Conrad-Bass said she did not know where it was.

Now free on a $5,000 bond, Conrad-Bass is next scheduled to appear in court for a July 17 pretrial conference. A jury trial is scheduled for Aug. 28.
