Since 2008, West Holmes ended the season reigning supreme in the Ohio Cardinal Conference eight times. Make that nine now, and seven in a row since 2011 with a win over Clear Fork, as the Knights wrapped up another outright OCC title in girls basketball last Thursday.

Making this run even more unprecedented, West Holmes has never shared any of its OCC titles and with this win over the Colts, this year wasn't going to be the first. Overall, the Knights are 163-18 since the inception of the conference and put the wraps on this year with a mark of 13-1, and are now 17-4 overall.
"We graduated the primary focus of our offense from last year," said West Holmes coach Lisa Ogi. "But all the girls have bought into defense and that has allowed us to be where we are and winning the OCC was a goal for the girls."
Of course, the Knights continued to showcase their staple in the run -- the lockdown defense by limiting Clear Fork to just 27 percent shooting on 3 of 11 from the floor.
"Grit is a word I would use to describe us," said Ogi. "We aren't flashy or showy, but rebounding and playing good defense is something that the girls pride themselves on.
"We continue to get better and it will be a fun day when we put it all together."
West Holmes was led by Sammie Hall with 18 points, three rebounds and three steals, and Kacie Leppla finished with 12 points. Kylie Leppla poured in eight points, tied Hall for team-high honors with three boards and matched teammate Taylor Yerian with three assists.
