Arnold has been solid off the bench

Brady Arnold (West Holmes) had 11 points and four assists off the bench to help nationally-ranked West Liberty to a recent win over Glenville State in men's basketball. Arnold, who averages 18 minutes a night, has been a steady option in the backcourt for the Hilltoppers with eight points a night to his credit.

Women's basketball

■ Junior forward Laina Snyder (West Holmes) was sidelined for the first time this season with an undisclosed injury, but her impact this winter has been great. When healthy, she has dominated the hardwood for top-ranked Ashland, having six times this year been named Player of the Week. Snyder is averaging 17.7 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.2 steals.

■ Regina Hochstetler (Hiland) helped Cedarville lock up the third seed at the upcoming Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament with a 15-point night in a win over Trevecca. The junior guard enters the week averaging 14.5 points, which features an impressive .909 free-throw percentage.

■ Urbana's Megan Beachy (Hiland) had a team-high 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, but the Blue Knights fell to Concord.

Indoor track and field

■ Ohio Northern junior Samuel Boyd (West Holmes) placed fourth in the 3,000 run at the All-Ohio Championships, crossing the line in 9:00.02. Later in the month, freshman Sarah Menuez (Hiland) was fourth in the 400 in 1:07.89.

■ Collin Blochlinger (Hiland) was third in the high jump for the host Dragons at the Tiffin Invite.
