New licenses needed

Beginning March 1, Ohioans can purchase a 2017-2018 hunting or fishing license at wildohio.gov and at hundreds of participating agents throughout Ohio. Licenses are also available for purchase on a mobile device such as a smartphone.

Ohio's hunters, anglers and conservationists will find a newly redesigned online purchasing system when they log in to buy licenses, permits, or other products. Licenses and permits are now grouped by category, such as hunting, fishing and trapping.

Ohio's hunting and fishing license year begins March 1. A resident fishing license and hunting license cost $19 each. Prices for all fishing and hunting licenses and permits are unchanged from last year. Ohio's 2017-2018 licenses are valid immediately upon purchase through Feb. 28, 2018. White-tailed deer and fall wild turkey hunting permits will go on sale later in 2017.

Antlers and Anglers

Sportsmen and women have the opportunity and venue to share their expertise and showcase their products this year to hundreds of attendees as Antlers and Anglers kicks off on Saturday, March 18 and continues through Sunday, March 19 at the Ashland County Fairgrounds. The days include vendors, seminars, giveaways and prizes. Pro-staffers and professionals will conduct seminars and will be available throughout the day for one-on-one advice.

The two-day event benefits Armstrong's ongoing Breaking Bread initiative, a program that collects non-perishable food items and donations for local food pantries at local Armstrong offices and at Armstrong sanctioned events. The cost of Antlers and Anglers is "two cans or two bucks." Children under 10 are free and the first 100 kids Saturday and Sunday will receive a string backpack bag from the Outdoor Channel

Spring still shoots

Spring still shoots will be held at the Shreve Farmers Sportsman Club every Sunday now through April 30 (minus Easter). Shoots start at noon with sign-up starting around 11:30. The club shoots shot, slug and .22 rounds.
