Two days after senior Josh Goudy advanced with his fourth-place finish in the discus, three more Knights moved on to state from Day 2 of the Div. II Athens Regional Saturday.
Brayden Chaney captured a regional title in the 400 and set a school record in the process, running a 49.04 to win the race.
Chaney's finish made the decision to pull him out of the 200 pay off. He ran under 28 seconds in that event, "but there were 16 others who did that," West Holmes coach Ty Harris said. "So we saved his energy and thought (the 400) was his best opportunity."
In the 3,200, standout Michelle Hostettler placed third with a time of 11:13.69 to stamp her state ticket.
Harris said having the last three meets of the regular season rained out hurt all of the Knight distance runners, but Hostettler was able to overcome that.
"We have our training program set up, so missing those meets affects the distance runners, but Michelle understands that," Harris said of his senior. "She's been consistent all four years and she'll be ready."
The final Knight qualifier was Taylor Yerian in the 300 hurdles. After qualifying eighth, Yerian ran a 45.39 and finished third.
