West Holmes 11-U team wins Nations regional title

The West Holmes 11-under traveling baseball team recently won the Nations Baseball Great Lakes Regional Championships in Findlay, sweeping through the double-elimination tournament undefeated.

West Holmes, now 28-7 on the year, beat the Perrysville Yellow Jackets from northwest Ohio 12-0 in the championship game.

Earlier, West Holmes knocked off the Dublin Green Sox 13-2 and the Mid-Ohio Blaze 12-6.

West Holmes started the tournament with a 10-9 win over the Cincinnati Diamond Dogs in pool play, then fell 7-0 to the Ohio Heat in its second pool game.

Rains washed out the rest of pool play, though, and the tournament was redrawn as a double-elimination bracket. By luck of the draw, West Holmes got the No. 1 seed, and received a first-round by before running off three straight wins.

West Holmes will now prepare for the Nations Baseball 11-under Nationals in Gastonia, N.C., July 22-25.
