TOPS OH 1243

Top rededicated loser was Ellen Mullet when TOPS OH 1243 Sugarcreek met Aug. 19. TOPS loss was 8.75 pounds for the week and best KOPS was Betty J. Miller.

Chosen as the thing to do for the following week was not eating after meals, except fruit, and exercise three times per week.

Birthdays were celebrated for Linda Miller and Betty Beachy.

At the Aug. 26 chapter meeting, loser of the week was Mary Yoder and rededicated loser was Cindy Rainsberger. Best KOPS was Emma Carpenter. TOPS loss was 12.25 pounds.

Forbidden foods chosen were french fries and thing to do was call or write a TOPS friend.

Losers of the month were Mary Yoder and Lovina Yoder; runner-up was Sarah Miller. Best KOPS was Emma Carpenter and six-week loser was Lovina Yoder.

TOPS OH 1573

The TOPS and KOPS pledges were recited when TOPS OH 1573 Nashville opened its meeting on Aug. 25.

The club had an 11-pound loss, with Mary Beth Kuntz as best weekly and monthly loser.

Odessa Ferris was best monthly re-dedicated loser, and Bob Gerber was best weekly KOPS. The club voted to give the secretary a gift card to help with her job training.

Janice Tope gave the program on "Hints for Lowering Fat" and demonstrated exercises that firm muscles at any age.

The club meets on Wednesdays with weigh-in at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting at 5:45 p.m.

County Line Historical Society

Hal Holbrook portrayed Jonas "Der Weiss" Stutzman when County Line Historical Society met at Ken Miller Gas & Oil Museum in Shreve on Aug. 21.

Nancy Raymond reported that members will be participating in the County Wide Historical Society tours. Museums will be open Oct. 9 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Jayn Neal reported the third deck of playing cards are being started.

A Wayne County Fair-style chicken barbecue will be held Oct. 2 at Clinton Township Fire Department, beginning at 10:30 a.m. until dinners are sold out. Proceeds will benefit CLHS.

The next board meeting will be Sept. 18 at 8:30 a.m. at the new museum; a membership meeting is scheduled for Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. at the Miller Museum.

Arts Council

Holmes County Arts Community meets the third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m., at Young Uniforms and Scrubs, Millersburg.

The Zen Society of Wooster meets for meditation and discussion on Mondays at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 3186 Burbank Road, Wooster.

Plan to arrive and be seated for meditation by 7 p.m.
