Jonas E. Schlabach, 92, of 5228 County Road 229, Fredericksburg, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at his home following a period of declining health.
He was born in Holmes County on Sept. 21, 1920, to the late Emanuel J. and Sarah I. (Miller) Schlabach and married Sarah L. Mast on Nov. 21, 1946. She died on August 19, 2001.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
He is survived by children, Mary (Henry) Troyer and Dan (Naomi) Schlabach both of Apple Creek, Mattie Schlabach of the home, Verna (Henry) Yoder of Fredericksburg, Levi (Kathy) Schlabach of Apple Creek and Jonas Jr. (Emma) Schlabach of the home; 39 grandchildren; 102 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dan (Fannie) Schlabach of Millersburg and Isaac (Malinda) Schlabach of Kimbolton; and a sister-in-law, Emma Schlabach of Walnut Creek.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by daughters, Edna and Anna; a brother; two sisters; and a great-grandson.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at the family home with Bishop Jacob D. Miller officiating. Burial was in the Hershberger Cemetery in Saltcreek Township, Holmes County.
