John D. Miller, 86, 4152 County Road 160, Millersburg, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at his home after a period of declining health.
He was born near Walnut Creek on Nov. 5, 1926, to the late Dan N. and Lizzie (Miller) Miller and married Anna A. Yoder on Nov. 8, 1951. She died Aug. 25, 1986. He then married Effie E. Raber on June 8, 1995. She survives.
He was a retired blacksmith and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving in addition to his second wife, are children Aden (Amanda) Miller of the home, Esther (Andy J.) Miller of Fredericksburg, Adam (Katie) Miller and John Jr. (Esther) Miller, both of Millersburg; 30 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and sisters Katie (Orie) Miller of Brinkhaven, Esther Hershberger, Clara Miller and Amanda (Henry P.) Troyer, all of Dundee.
In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mattie; a brother, Sonny; and an infant brother.
Funeral services were Thursday, Nov. 22 at the family home, with Bishop Raymond A. Hershberger officiating. Burial was in Stutzman Cemetery, Saltcreek Township, Holmes County.
