Ray J. Yoder, 80, 10487 Winesburg Road, Dundee, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born in Holmes County on Oct. 19, 1932, to the late Jacob J. and Mary Ann B. (Yoder) Yoder and married Betty M. Hochstetler on Oct. 4, 1956. She survives.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are children, Vernon (Susie) Yoder of Lyndonville, N.Y., Leroy (Naomi) Yoder of Fredericksburg, David (Mary) Yoder of Apple Creek, Daniel (Edna) Yoder of Dundee, Niva (Dan) Burkholder of Millersburg, Mary Ann (Merlin) Yoder of Dundee, Rosanna (Willis) Miller of Millersburg, Ray Jr. (Laura) Yoder of Dundee and Cathy (Marcus) Schlabach of the home; 30 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clarence (Barbara) Yoder of Sugarcreek; sisters, Clara Yoder of Charm and Sarah (Dan) Troyer of Sugarcreek; a sister-in-law, Sarah Yoder of Sarasota, Fla.; a step-brother-in-law, Raymond Barkman of McConnelsville; step-sisters, Minerva (Alvin) Troyer and Sarah Troyer, both of Sugarcreek and Ann (Henry) Troyer of Strasburg; and step-sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Mullet and Mattie Mullet, both of Sugarcreek.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ervin Mullet; brothers, Joas and Henry Yoder; a brother-in-law; a sister-in-law; two stepsisters; two stepbrothers; and a grandson.
Funeral services were Sunday, Dec. 9 at The Pier, 10470 Winesburg Road, with Bishop Joseph Nisley officiating. Burial was in the Yoder Family Cemetery, Paint Township, Holmes County.
Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton handled arrangements.
