Lois Thatcher, 83, Mount Vernon

Lois Nadine Thatcher, 83, formerly of Brinkhaven, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Ohio Eastern Star Home, Mount Vernon.

She was born Jan. 9, 1929, in Benton to Mast and Beulah (Mast) Kauffman.

She was a graduate of Aultman Nursing School in Canton and Syracuse University in New York. She was a certified midwife, and worked as such on an Indian reservation in Arizona for seven years. She was also the former director of nursing at Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg.

Lois married Charles "Jack" Thatcher on June 25, 1966. He survives. They were members of Millersburg Mennonite Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband of Brinkhaven, are a sister, Geneva (Melvin) Martin of Pennsylvania; a brother, Elmo (Katherine) Kauffman of Walnut Creek; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Grace Lehman.

Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 5 at Fischer Funeral Home in Danville, with pastors Patrick and Christine Nfzigeor officiating. Burial was in Workman Cemetery, Danville.
