Lane Clabough, 12, Millersburg

Lane H. Clabough, 12, of Millersburg, passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 24, 2013, from injuries sustained in a single car accident.

He was born Feb. 11, 2000, in Wooster, the son of Fred H. and Tish (Shultz) Clabough, and had attended West Holmes Middle School, as a seventh-grader.

Lane was a good-natured, good-hearted boy who was loved by all who knew him. He was a very proud member of the football and basketball programs at West Holmes schools. He was especially proud of his affiliation with the high school varsity basketball team. He proudly served as water boy last year and could not bring himself to let go of relationships with the members of the team. He looked up to them with the utmost admiration. He loved the time spent with his friends and members of West Holmes schools.

He will be deeply missed by his brothers, Donnie and Zack. He adored the time spent with each of them in their extra curricular activities such as football, basketball and riding dirt bikes. He looked to them for guidance as well as counsel and love for what lay ahead as he grew. They provided unconditional love to their little brother.

Lane will be fondly remembered always by his family, students, staff and coaches at West Holmes schools.

Surviving in addition to his parents, are brothers, Donnie and Zack Dowling of the home; maternal grandparents, George and Julie Shultz, paternal grandmother, Jackie Stewart; great-grandparents, Zetta "Dutch" Stewart, Ramona Britton, Melvin and Bonnie Britton, and Roberta Clabough; aunts and uncles; George and Jaime Shultz, Kathy Cannon Miller, Jeremy and Jessi Blackwell, Dale Clabough, Brandi Shultz; and a very special bond with Jason and Tonnie Ware; and cousins, Javin Ware, Brock and Aspynn Shultz, and Cassidy and Issac Blackwell. He is also survived by several great-aunts and uncles and extended cousins.

Lane was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Fred Clabough Jr.; great-grandparents, George T. and Violet Shultz and Fred Clabough Sr.; and a great-uncle, John Shultz.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Millersburg United Methodist Church. Graveside services were Wednesday, Jan. 30, in Killbuck Cemetery, with the Rev. Tom Jones officiating.

The family suggests contributions be made to West Holmes Athletic Boosters.
