Mildred Hoops, 95, Shreve

Mildred M. Hoops, 95, of Shreve, passed away Saturday Feb. 2, 2013 at West View Manor.

Services are being held today (Thursday, Feb. 7) at 11 a.m. at the Shreve Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Rev. Priscilla E. Jackson and Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating. Burial will be in Killbuck Cemetery. Friends may call two hours prior to services at the church. Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve is handling arrangements.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the West View Manor Ministerial Fund, 1715 Mechanicsburg Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691 or to a charity of the donor's choice.

She was born Aug. 24, 1914 in Millersburg to Harvey H. and Allie (Craft) Nethero and married Harold D. Hoops April 26,1941. He preceded her in death Aug. 20, 2005.

Along with her husband Harold, she owned and operated Hoops Plumbing and Heating for over 50 years.

She was a member of the Shreve United Methodist Church where she had been active. She served as president of the U.M.W. and was a Sunday school teacher. She was a 4-H leader and first women Master of the former Clinton Grange, where she was a 50-year member.

She also was a member of the Community Club, the Camper's Club and served on the Wayne County Cancer Board for 30-plus years.

Mildred and Harold had attended regularly and worked in the Shreve Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening and sewing in her spare time.

She is survived by two daughters, Judith L. Geog of Shreve and Kay Dawn (Dr. Thomas) McFarland of Corbin, Ky., five grandchildren, Clinton (Stephanie) Geog, Corey (Tiffany) Geog, Chad (Laura Hall) Geog, James (Rebecca) McFarland and John (Rheanna) McFarland, five great-grandchildren, Luke and Cate Geog, and Andrew, Patrick, and Hannah McFarland, four sisters-in-law, Gretchen Nethero, Eileen Kinsey, Maxine Barnhart, and Marva Jean Landon.

She was preceded in addition to her husband by a sister, Doris Nethero, and a brother, Calvin Nethero.
