Eloise Anne (Nickle) Devore, 68, of Wooster, entered into eternal rest with the Lord Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, surrounded by family members after a courageous battle with cancer.
Eloise was born in Wooster on May 6, 1944, to Samuel and Vera (Michener) Nickle and was a member of the Waynedale High School Class of 1962. She married her high school sweetheart Cloyce Devore, who was the love of her life, on March 19, 1961 in Holmesville. Eloise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a friend to all and was loved by many.
Eloise lived in the Wooster area all her life. Over the years she worked on the family dairy farm, at Bonds Shoe Store, was a demonstrator for Shopper Shows, Addressograph Multigraph, Tayko, Akro, Wise Guys Restaurant, and enjoyed a lifetime of baby-sitting. For the last nine years she owned and operated Heavenly Bodies gift shop. For the last 14 years she also worked at Goodwill Industries doing social work.
Eloise enjoyed meeting and getting to know people, helping others, and spending time with her family. She was an avid reader, excellent cook and award winning seamstress. During her school years she was involved in a number of activities, including band, cheerleading and majorettes.
In addition to her loving husband of almost 52 years, she is survived by children, Lisa Over of Durham, N.C., Andrea Yungen of Wooster, Floyd (Kristy) Devore of Polk, Craig (Adena) Devore of Wooster, Ryan Devore of Parma, and Amber (John) Kegley of Ashland; grandchildren, Mitchell (Brandy) Johnson, Autumn (Nate) Tooley, Joey Over, Tiffany (Stephen) Tuck, Ember Goodrich, Kristina Wallick, Emily Wallick, Chase Devore, Tyler and Deanna Devore, Frost and Breeze Kegley; great-grandchildren, Paiton and Gracie Tuck; a sister, Janis (Noel) Imhoff of Wooster; a brother Ray (Doris) Nickle of Big Prairie; sisters-in-law, Patricia Morgan of West Salem, Karen Nickle of Wooster, and Bonnie Myers of Glenmont; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Vera (Michener) Nickle; a brother Tom Nickle; her mother- and father-in-law, Alonzo and Lois (Spitler) Devore; a brother-in-law, John Morgan; and a great-grandson, Blake Tooley.
Funeral services were held in the chapel at Westview Healthy Living (formerly Westview Manor Chapel) on Tuesday, Jan. 15. Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiated. Burial was in Congress Cemetery, West Salem.
