HOLMESVILLE -- Victor E. Whytsell, 90, of Holmesville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, at his home.
He was born Aug. 6, 1926, in Barberton, the son of Elba E. and Lizzie Beth (Blake) Whytsell, and in 1983, married Darlene Bodenhorn. She survives.
Victor was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy, and had worked at McNeil's Tire in Akron. He also worked his farm since 1963 up until the day he passed away.
He was a member of Melvin McClure Legion Post 551, Holmesville, and loved dozers, his paddle boat and working on cars.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Darlene, are children, Victoria Strickler of Wooster, Kenneth Wagner and fiancee, Robin Swoveland of Blissfield and Dorinda (Denver) Hoff of Wooster; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Lou (Paul) Gross of Cottonwood, Ala.; numerous nieces and nephews; his good friend and neighbor, Joe Specht; and several cats that he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Mark Whytsell and Betty Lou Hodgekiss; a son-in-law, Gary Strickler; and brothers, Elijah and Clyde Whytsell.
