WOOSTER -- Charles R. "Bob" Smith, 72, of Wooster, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, at his home.
Memorial services were Dec. 27 at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with pastor Chad Stutzman officiating.
Burial was in Nashville Cemetery, where military rites were conducted by American Legion Post 257 of Loudonville and the VFW 8586 out of Perrysville. Those wishing to share a memory or make online condolences may do so by visiting www.alexanderfhinc.com.

He was born April 18, 1944, in Knox Township, the son of John and Ruth (Hall) Smith, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Charles was a member of Loudonville American Legion and Wooster Eagles. He retired from Ohio Operating Engineers Union Local 18, and enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his friends and family.
Surviving are children, Jamie Smith-Woodward of Florida, Justen Smith and Branden (Chelsea) Smith, both of Wooster; siblings, Patricia (Frank) Riggle of Strasburg, John Smith of Glenmont, Denny Smith of Wooster, Alyce (David) Garnes of Nashville and Karen Stough of Wooster; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Virginia and Ruthie Smith, Beulah Mike and Dorothy Nuchols.
