BIG PRAIRIE -- Richard J. "Dick" Nemeth, 88, of Big Prairie, passed away Dec. 18, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born and raised in Cleveland and was a 1946 graduate of West Tech High School.
Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army and served in Korea. When he returned to the States, he attended and graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College, where he earned a degree in three majors and met his wife of 61 years, Janet Whims Nemeth. She preceded him in death in 2014.
After college, Dick became a foreign service intelligence officer in Salzburg, Austria, where his daughter, Norma, was born. He returned to Ohio in 1954 and became an entrepreneur and later a gentleman farmer in Holmes County. Dick had a profound appreciation for the good things in life: his marriage, his family, his friends, languages, investing, travel, hunting, boating, fine wine, golf, woodworking and farming, among them.
Kind and generous, he will be deeply missed by his family, neighbors and friends.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Larry Reichlin, of Villanova, Pa., and a son and daughter-in-law, Richard "Hal" Nemeth and Barbara Andelman of Cleveland; and grandchildren, Aaron Reichlin of Philadelphia, Jake Reichlin of Villanova and Jack and Monica Nemeth of Columbus.
Memorial services will be held in May. Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Road., Wooster 44691.
