MILLERSBURG -- Jean Lawhead, 89, of Millersburg, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2016 at Sycamore Run Nursing Home, Millersburg, following a period of declining health.
Jean was born Jan. 7, 1927 in Newark, and was the daughter of Ray and Ruth (Hatten) Chaney. She was a 1945 graduate of Millersburg High School. Jean retired in 1988, she was secretary for the superintendent of West Holmes School District. She was a member of the Millersburg Christian Church. Jean loved everything there was to love about West Holmes and considered the faculty there her extended family. She also loved worrying about her son and granddaughter.
She is survived by her son, Craig Lawhead, of Millersburg; a granddaughter, Jessamyn Lawhead, of Millersburg; a sister, Doris Mullet, of Killbuck; brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" Bell, of Killbuck; and her niece, Vicky Oldaker, of Moreland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Sara Bell; and grandson, Jamie Taylor.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Sycamore Run Nursing Home and to LifeCare Hospice for all the love, care and support that was given to Jean and her family.
Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 5 at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with Pastor Wes McElravy officiating. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery, Warsaw.
