SHREVE -- Mary E. Neavill, 91, of Shreve, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at Danbury Woods Assisted Living Community in Wooster.
She was born Dec. 24, 1925, in Benson, Ill., to Paul and Hazel (Turner) Koehler, and was a graduate of Benson High School. On Dec. 23, 1945, she married Robert "Bud" Neavill. He preceded her in death March 4, 1990.
She was a member of Shreve Calvary Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society. Homemaker was Mary's most important job, but she also worked for a time at Sheck's IGA, Diamonite and Shreve Dari-Bar.
Mary was a kind-hearted, faithful person, always willing to help anyone in need. She enjoyed life, especially spending time with her family and friends. Wintering in Florida, near the Ellenton area, she enjoyed shuffleboard, riding her three-wheel bike and being in the sun. Playing cards, especially kings on the corner, crocheting, crafting and travel were some of her favorite things.
Surviving are a daughter, Gloria (Ken) Yockey of Shreve; grandchildren, Matt (Jen) Yockey of Orrville, Chad Neavill of Loudonville, Chrystal (James) Hickman of Nashville, Stephanie (Ed) Yockey of Shreve, Nicholas (Sara) Neavill of Shreve and Brittany Tanner of Millersburg; great-grandchildren, Jesse Hickman, Angelina Neavill, Carson and Benjamin Tanner, Olivia and Tomasyna Yockey-Carnes, who affectionately called Mary "Big Grandma,"; a step-grandchild, Jarrod Derflinger; brothers, Robert Koehler of Illinois and David Koehler of North Carolina; and a sister, Ruth Jebe of Illinois.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Neavill; and brothers, Richard and William Koehler.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 7 at Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve, with pastor Rod Schertz officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Shreve. Condolences may be shared with the family at Schlabachfh.com.
