NASHVILLE -- Albert L. Strother, 83, of Nashville, died Sunday evening, Feb. 19, 2017, at LifeCare Hospice, Wooster, after a short illness.
He was born Aug. 20, 1933, in Berlin, the son of the late Albert and Marjorie (Morris) Strother, and was a 1951 graduate of Glenmont High School. He was vice president of sales and co-founder of G&S Titanium, Wooster, before his retirement in 1993.
Albert also was a former employee of Armeco and Astro, and was an 'old-school' style salesman who nostalgically remembered when deals were always handled face-to-face or over an invitation to dinner at your home.
After a day at work, he came home to his farm just outside of Nashville, where he raised belted Galloway cattle. He enjoyed coon hunting and golfing, but his love was watching his grandchildren's many activities at West Holmes Schools.
Albert was a member of Nashville Church of Christ, and was a former member of Nashville Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife, JoAnn M. Banbury Strother, whom he married Oct. 3, 1952; sons, Denny (Megan) Strother of Lakeville, Kevin L. (Kathy) Strother of Creston, Keith (Christine) Strother of Odell's Lake and Gail (Tera) Strother of Glenmont; grandchildren, RaChel Thompson, Lance, Alicha, Brooke and Lucas Strother, Tyra Bruce, Rachel Koch, Paiten Strother, Chase Geiselman and Bella Strother; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gene "Mickey" (Barbara) Strother of Brinkhaven; and sisters, Sophia (Richard) Doyle of Big Prairie and Janie Clark of Wooster.
Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Nashville Church of Christ, with minister Brad Dobson officiating. Burial was in Nashville Cemetery. Friends called Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville, or one hour before the services Thursday.
