Edna Davenport

MILLERSBURG -- Edna R. Davenport, 93, of Millersburg passed away Monday morning, Feb. 20, 2017, at the home of her son after a brief illness.

Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Welcome Church of Christ, with pastor Dale Duncan officiating. Burial was in Nashville Cemetery. Those wishing to share a memory or make online condolences may do so by visiting www.alexanderfhinc.com.

Edna was born Jan. 3, 1924, in Nashville, the daughter of Ray Ullman and Florence (Parsons) DeWitt, and on Feb. 10, 1945, married Delbert Milo Davenport. He preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 2005.

Edna was a 1942 graduate of Nashville High School, and had worked for 25 years at Address-o-graph Multigraph, retiring as a lab chemist.

She was a member of Welcome Church of Christ, where she helped start the Ladies Aide Society and helped with all of the church festivals. She also was a member of Holmes County Farm Bureau.

Edna enjoyed crocheting, making numerous doilies, tablecloths and afghans. She also loved embroidering anything she could get her hands on. She entered numerous projects in the Holmes County Fair, winning many ribbons and trophies.

Surviving are her son, William Davenport of Millersburg; grandsons, Ray Davenport of Killbuck and Rob (Jen) Brumme of Millersburg; great-grandchildren, Levi and Lexi Kinstle, Ryan Eyster, Jenna Sue Brumme, Vince Strait and Cheyenne Strait; a daughter-in-law, Becky Davenport of Millersburg; a nephew, Wayne DeWitt of Florida; and her wonderful neighbors, Mike and Shelly Shriver.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Thomas Davenport on Aug. 5, 2011; a daughter-in-law, Sue Davenport on April 21, 2008; her parents; brothers, Frank, Glenn and Charles DeWitt; a sister, Helen DeWitt; and a nephew, Alfred "Bud" DeWitt.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank-you to LifeCare Hospice nurses, aides and staff for all the wonderful care that was provided to Edna and her family.
