MILLERSBURG -- Edward Raymond Zebrak Sr., 80, of Millersburg passed away on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, in Strongsville.
He was born Aug. 31, 1936, in McKeesport, Pa., the son of Valentine Joseph and Mary (ne Schultz) Zebrak. He married his first wife of 54 years, Verona Heizelman, in 1957. She preceded him in death in 2011. He then married Celia Zarko in 2013. She survives.
He had been a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where he sang in the church choir and was a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He also was a member of the USPA, Polka Convention and the Cleveland Polka Association.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959.
In addition to his wife, Celia, he is survived by his children, DeEtte (Donald) Jones, Elizabeth (Richard) Porter, Susan (James) Dosztal, Edward (Colleen) Zebrak Jr., Teresa (Dean) Hunt, Michael (Francesca) Zebrak and Joseph (Rebecca) Zebrak; stepchildren, Barbara Gibbons and Robert (Amy) Latawiec; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary (Joseph) Kau; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded by his parents, a stepson, seven sisters and two brothers.
Friends were received 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster, with the Rev. Stephen Moran as the celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary Cemetery.
