Ruth Steimel, 93, Millersburg

MILLERSBURG -- Ruth E. Steimel, 93, of Millersburg passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, surrounded by her family, at the home of her daughter.

Private services were planned for Millersburg First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg. Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home. Those wishing to share a memory or make online condolences may do so by visiting www.alexanderfhinc.com.

Ruth was born Jan. 31, 1924, in Millersburg, the daughter of Monroe B. and Nora Ellen (Miller) Mast, and on June 18, 1947, married Richard "Dick" Steimel. He preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 2002.

Ruth was a 1942 graduate of Millersburg High School, attended The College of Wooster and graduated from The Ohio State University in 1946. She was employed by Millersburg Youth Center. Ruth and her husband started Steimel Village Motors in 1952, where she was active until retirement in 1986, when they sold the business.

She was a member of Millersburg First Presbyterian Church since 1935, where she served as a deacon, an elder and was a Sunday school teacher. Ruth was a member of Millersburg Garden Club, Millersburg Sorosis Club, Presbyterian Women's Group, Delta Gamma Sorority, was an associate member of The College of Wooster Women's Advisory Board, was on the Joel Pomerene Physicians Recruitment Board and was a member of Holmes County Historical Society. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed attending her grandchildren's events and activities.

Surviving are her son, Sam (Ronda) Steimel of Millersburg; her daughter, Beth (Marcus) Ladrach of Wooster; and grandchildren, Brogan Steimel, Will and Ben Ladrach.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Paul D. Mast; and a sister, Pearl Mast.
