DOVER -- Robert Wayne Numbers, 78, of Dover went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at Park Village Nursing Home after an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 10, 1938, in Bolivar to Robert Tobias and Clara (Weber) Numbers, and married Emma Lou Burgess on Dec. 7, 1957. She survives.
He retired from AK Steel and was a member of Mercy Hill Church, Walnut Creek, Gold Wing Motor Club and was a past member of Strasburg Booster Club. He was dedicated to his church and family. He was an avid supporter of his family and enjoyed following them with all their activities.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his sons, Jeff (Leah) Numbers and Mark (Tiffany) Numbers; grandchildren, Brooks (Jessica) Numbers, Ian (Alisha) Numbers, Alexandria (Colton) Lowe of South Carolina, Morgan Numbers and Sydney Numbers; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Numbers, Lofton Numbers, Lucy Numbers, Wylie Numbers, Weber Numbers and Worth Numbers; and his sister, Jeanne Nalley.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services were 1 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Union Hill United Methodist Church in Sugarcreek, with Pastor Erik Miller officiating. Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery. Friends called Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Smith-Varns Funeral Home, 115 Andreas Drive, Sugarcreek, and Thursday from noon-1 p.m. before the services at the church.
