LAKEVILLE -- Charles D. Porter Sr., 83, of Lakeville, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Colonial Manor Health Care Center Inc. in Loudonville following a period of declining health.
Charles was born Sept. 30, 1933 in Shreve to John J. and Marie P. (Smetzer) Porter. He was a 1951 graduate of Big Prairie High School; and on Aug. 16, 1952, he married his high school sweetheart, Betty M. Graham; she survives.
Charles was a member of the Lakeville United Methodist Church. He retired from Akron Brass after a number of years of service. His true love was farming, which he was engaged in all of his life. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Mel Richey, Roy Richey Jr. and Jim Porter; and two sisters, Norma Jean Sponseller and Virginia Porter.
