BENTON -- Alvin J. Weaver, 76, of Benton passed away Saturday morning, April 29, 2017, at LifeCare Hospice, Wooster following a brief illness.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Berlin Christian Fellowship with pastor Brad Olson officiating. A private family burial will take place at Fryburg Cemetery. Friends called from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 1, at the church and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday. Arrangements were handled by Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, Ohio 44691.
Alvin was born Jan. 23, 1941, in Holmes County and was the son of Joe A. and Matilda (Sommer) Weaver. On March 19, 1965, he married Donna Gerber, and she survives.
Alvin was a truck driver and transported the Amish. He was a member of Berlin Christian Fellowship Church, where he enjoyed greeting people at the door on Sunday mornings. Alvin loved fishing and playing dartball.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are three children, Arlene (Steve) Waltman of Millersburg, Keith Weaver of the home and Cindy (Paul) Weaver of Wilmot; six grandchildren, Ella (Keaton) Lorentz, Aaron Waltman (fiancee, Rachel Green), and Ashley, Natalie, Jonathan and Victoria Weaver. He was looking forward to the upcoming birth of his first great-grandchild. He is also survived by his siblings, Lillian (Denney) Ferguson of Sugarcreek, Ernie (Marilyn) Weaver of Michigan, Roscoe (Mary) Weaver of Walnut Creek and Esther (Dan) Byler of Jeromesville; a sister-in-law, Glenda Weaver of East Liberty; a brother-in-law, Paul (Judy) Gerber of West Liberty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Loren Weaver; and a sister, Gloria Gerber.
