LOUDONVILLE -- Angela M. Plant, 86, of Loudonville died Saturday evening, April 29, 2017, at Colonial Manor Health Care Center surrounded by her family.
She was born Aug. 19, 1930, in Loudonville and was the daughter of Luke and Agatha (ne Gardner) Smithhisler. Angela was a 1948 graduate of Villanova Academy of Covington, Kentucky. On Jan. 27, 1955, she married Carlos E. Plant. He died Nov. 19, 2010.
Angela was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Loudonville, Altar Rosary Society, Mission Society, Council of Catholic Women, Ladies Guild and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed collecting frogs, crocheting, quilting, sewing and reading.
She is survived by six children, David Plant of Wooster, Joseph (Lori Gardner) Plant of Lisbon, L. Thomas (Tiffany Windbigler) Plant of Loudonville, Evelyn (Larry) Bays of Loudonville, Anita (Bernie) Parsons of Perrysville and Celenia Rose Plant of Wooster; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; brother, D. Michael (Carol) Smithhisler of Mount Vernon; sister, Mary Rita Massaro of Wooster; and a special friend and roommate, Lynn Bell.
She was preceded in death by both her parents; her husband; a son, Daniel E. Smithhisler in January 2001; and two brothers, Jim and Paul Smithhisler.
A funeral Mass was 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at St. Peter Catholic Church, Loudonville, with the Rev. Vincent Hawk officiating. Burial followed in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery. Friends visited with the family 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, where a prayer service will begin at 7:45 p.m.
