PERRYSVILLE -- James L. Pyers, 65, of rural Perrysville, died Thursday afternoon, May 25, 2017, in Regency Hospital, Middleburg Heights, after a long battle with asbestosis.
Jim was born July 23, 1951, in Millersburg and was the son of the late James Robert and Louella Hughes Pyers. Jim lived in the Nashville/Loudonville areas most of his life and was active in Boy Scouts and 4-H as a youth. He was a 1969 graduate of West Holmes High School and was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam veteran.
He enjoyed fishing, cooking and photography. When Jim was younger, he enjoyed motorcycles and, while he was serving in the Air Force, once travelled from Spokane, Wash., to his home in Holmes County. The journey remained his favorite trip ever. Jim was a 23-year employee of Mansfield Plumbing Products and a 20-year employee of FedEx Mansfield, retiring in 2016.
He is survived by his wife, Lucinda L. Heffelfinger Pyers, whom he married June 23, 1973; his son, Ryan (Tracy) Pyers of Bellville; his daughter, Lindsey (Jonah Roush) Pyers of Los Angeles, Calif.; four grandchildren, Keegan and Gage Pyers and Morgan and Taylor Sutter; one sister, Brenda (Bob) Brady of Shreve; and a sister-in-law, Rhonda Pyers of Wooster. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jeff Pyers; and a sister, Virginia Whitehouse.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017, 11a.m.-6 p.m. at the Mohican State Park Pavilion, 3116 State Route 3, Loudonville. Private family services will be held in Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with burial in Nashville Cemetery.
