Amos Yoder, 96, Millersburg

1921-2017

MILLERSBURG -- Minister Amos M. Yoder, 96, 4728 County Road 19, Millersburg, died Saturday, May 27, 2017, at his home.

He was born March 25, 1921, in Holmes County to the late Mose and Catherine (Miller) Yoder, and married Amanda M. Troyer on Dec. 20, 1945. She died Feb. 16, 2016.

He was a retired farmer, and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. He was ordained minister on Oct, 8, 1971.

Surviving are his children, Menno (Fannie) Yoder and Mary Yoder, both of the home, Jonas (Ella) Yoder of Baltic, Mose (Anna) Yoder, Melvin (Edna) Yoder and Malinda (Eli) Miller, all of Millersburg, Monroe (Mattie) Yoder of Fresno, David (Fannie) Yoder of Millersburg, Atlee (Emma) Yoder of Baltic, Henry (Elsie) Yoder of Millersburg and Anna (Junior) Barkman of Fresno; a son-in-law, Albert (Lydia) Yoder of Millersburg; 38 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren; and in-laws, Noah Yoder and Mary Ann (Dave) Yoder.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Mattie; a grandson and two great-grandchildren; his parents; brothers, Neal, Christ, Eli, Mose, David and Jonas; and sisters, Lizzie, Sarah, Mary and Susan.

Services were held May 30, 2017, with Minister Mose V. Hershberger officiating. Burial was in Yoder Cemetery, Clark Township, Holmes County. Smith-Varns Funeral Home, Sugarcreek, assisted the family.
