BALTIC -- Eli A. Raber, 79, 2658 Township Road 190, Baltic, died Thursday, June 15, 2017, at his home after an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 11, 1937, in Holmes County to the late Albert N. and Lydia E. (Mast) Raber, and married Verna Kurtz on April 25, 1963. She survives.
He was a retired farmer and was employed by Walnut Creek Lumber. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are his children, Ada Mae (Wayne) Schlabach of Millersburg, Lena (Atlee) Barkman of Baltic, Bert (Marie) Raber of the home, Betty (Andy) Yoder of Millersburg and Wayne (Sara) Raber of Walnut Creek; 25 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara (Wayne) Troyer of Millersburg; and brothers, Mose Raber of Sugarcreek, John (Barbara) Raber of Millersburg, Albert (Sarah) Raber of Baltic and Roman (Freda) Raber of New Philadelphia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Ada Raber; a grandson, Nathan Raber; and a niece, Barbara Raber.
Services were Saturday, June 17, at 9 a.m. at the Raber residence with Bishop Vernon Hershberger officiating. Burial was in Raber Cemetery, Clark Township, Holmes County. Smith-Varns Funeral Home, Sugarcreek, assisted the family.
