Sue Thomas to speak at Pleasant View Mennonite Church

Sue Thomas' journey as a professional public speaker came with her total surrender at the foot of the Cross and of giving back to Him the gift of her voice.

The world knows her as the inspiration behind the TV series, Sue Thomas: FBEye -- the church knows her as a witness for Christ.

Aside from filling the church pulpits for well-known pastors such as Rick Warren, Jack Hayford, Robert Schuller, Chuck Swindoll, James Kennedy and many others, Thomas is also known for her ministry at women's and youth events.

Thomas will be a special guest speaker on Sunday, Feb. 3, at 10:20 a.m. at Pleasant View Mennonite Church.

A benefit lunch will be held for Jesse and Rhoda Wengerd. Jesse lost his job due to current health issues. The menu includes: chicken noodle and chili soup, sliders and Jell-o cake. Everyone is invited to stay and donations will be accepted.

Pleasant View Mennonite Church is located at 3391 U.S. 62, Millersburg. Call 330-893-2808.

Senior citizens invited to lasagna meal

Senior Citizens of the Nashville community are invited to a free lasagna meal on Saturday, Feb. 9, at noon in the Fellowship Hall of the Nashville Church of Christ, just east of Nashville Elementary.

This "Winter Luncheon" is a chance to chat with neighbors and friends. Be certain to invite others. The theme will be snowmen and birds. Door prizes will be given.

The menu will include choice of chicken, vegetable, or regular lasagna, tossed salad and/or applesauce, Italian bread, dessert and beverage.

Entertainment will be by Jeremiah Stivers, musician and humorist. Stivers grew up in Holmes County and left for a while, not planning to return. "God had different plans for me," he revealed. In 2012, Stivers returned to Holmes County and is the Associate Minister at Ripley Church of Christ. Stivers' family includes his wife, Ariel and son, Liam.

Some parking is available on the lower level by the Fellowship Hall.

To help with planning food, call 330-763-4031 or 330-378-2601; leave a message with your name and number of people attending if no one answers.

Those who wish may make a donation that day to help defray expenses.
