Knights continue OCC dominance

Since the inception of the Ohio Cardinal Conference in 2003, it's safe to say the West Holmes girls basketball has reigned supreme. The Knights continued that dominance against Ashland last Saturday, rolling by the Arrows by 22 points. Hiland also stayed hot with a 32-point win over rival Garaway.

Bonus weekend deer harvest similar to 2015

COLUMBUS -- Ohio's hunters braved less than ideal weather conditions last weekend and checked 9,228 whitetail deer during Ohio's 2016 two-day deer-gun hunting season, Dec. 17-18. During last year's two-day December deer-gun season, 9,447 deer were harvested.

Hiland 52, Sandy Valley 45 Hiland led by as many as 14 early, but saw Sandy Valley battle back to within three by halftime. In the second half, though, the Hawks finally closed out the Cardinals with a 19-14 fourth-quarter run to earn the win.

Knights place 6th at Wayne Invitational

West Holmes (136 points) finished sixth place at last weekend's Wayne Invitational Wrestling Tournament, which was won for the first time by host Smithville with 211 points. Ravenna Southeast was second, 48 points behind. The Knights were led by Thane Kaufman's win in the 113-pound class.
